Some advice on how to check a used camera?

Hi, I'm considering purchasing a used HVX. I believe it has 800+ hours on it. I understand that the P2 system has the advantage of non-moving parts, but 800+ sounds like a lot even for that. How much does a burned out P2 slot on the camera cost to repair/replace? And ofcourse, other than the lens, what other major part on the camera should I be aware of on this model? I've done a search, but haven't found much useful.

Also, how much would it cost to replace an LCD screen? Whether because it's got burned out pixels or deep stratches. I'm looking at a transaction of mid-$3000's including an 8gig card.

You may want to contact a company like Spec-Comm about prices on parts. They have a good reputation and are very responsive.
