Solo - The Smart Drone from 3D Robotics

looking good! thinking of how the gimbal may handle the 5.4mm lens... shouldn't be any different, or even better than the h4-3d, no? the control options are really looking tempting for 1k.

I am in the market for one. Even yesterday, I left some post wondering anything related to some alternative to the usual contenders...

Interesting if it can fly the Blackmagic drone camera, as you (the OP) suggested in the Blackmagic topic. It would be great to get away from that lower quality GoPro or DJI camera look to a high quality cinema look for drone footage without spending a large chunk of change on a larger and more dangerous setup.

Yes, the amount of control offered here combined with the image quality of the BMMicro could certainly produce some incredible images for a fraction of the cost typically required.

Been holding off on getting a drone till after NAB, would like to see what this one is capable of doing as well. I like the idea of the new BMC mini cam as well, though going wide isn't easy with the crop and defished 4k footage from the Hero4 Black looks pretty good.

It appears that the cam and pancake lens runs about 365g. That's about 4x heavier than the GPH4.

That will require a heavier gimbal and more overall powerful multi rotor. Interesting to learn what solutions BM has in mind.

That is what you call building a better mouse trap. I do not have a commercial need for drones but I would buy that awesome piece of kit.

Yes, this is the drone to own. Saw it on the floor today and it's everything a drone should be. Easy-to-use. Intuitive. Fun. Well-built.

They will sell boatloads of these things.

Unfortunately, this will not work with the BM Micro since it exceeds the weight limit of the gimbal and the drone itself. I was stoked until I found out that it can't handle anything heavier than a Go Pro. Cool tech but I hate shooting with Go Pro for cinematic use so this is out for me. So Close, so close.

Like DJI, I would be willing to bet that the second gen system will be designed to fly heavier cameras. Cool tech for sure. Every done after will probably have a similar control option.
