Sold my DVX100b -- need to capture 24p footage...

So, I sold my dvx100b and purchased a 7d. I now find myself needing to capture footage so I purchased a sony handycam, but it keeps throwing an error at me, not allowing me to "batch capture" / recapture footage in current timelines.

I've recreated capture settings to reflect the 23.98 frame rate, but I'm getting various errors like, "Batch capture encountered timecode breaks in sequence items." But this is not true since I had no issues capturing and re-capturing this very footage from the DVX100b.

Long story short... is this struggling to capture because the footage was captured at 23.98 and the handycam is running at 29.98?

Any thoughts would greatly be appreciated.

Also, assuming this is the case, any advice how I could "cheaply" purchase a capture device that might solve this.

Thanks a ton!

The footage was captured at 29.97, same as it was recorded to tape in the DVX. Upon capture, FCP removed the pull-down to restore the footage to 23.976.

You aren't going to be able to capture at 23.976, only 29.97 with advanced pull-down removal. Any miniDV camcorder or deck should work, so if you keep experiencing breaks, you should clean the heads.

Thanks for your reply. Maybe I'm confused by your response... When I shot the footage, I shot it on Scene 6. To clarify, is that not recorded to tape at 23.976?

Regarding cleaning the heads... it's a brand new miniDV handycam. One would assume that's not the issue... who knows?

So, I'm back to square one. Why would it throw the error?

Any other suggestions what could be going on outside cleaning the heads?

Thanks,

cris

Check the forum faqs- 24p is pulled down to 29.97 always on tape. Any DV deck or camera can be used to capture DV tapes shot on the DVX100.
