Is there anything you need to put into your computer for it to recognise your JVC HD100? My Sony Vegas will work with my regular camcorder, but with this, nothing will capture at all. I was told to use cineform, which I downloaded, but I'm not really sure how to work it and start capturing.

are you able to capture from the HD100 in DV mode with footage shot in DV? Does your computer make any kind of sound when you plug in the firewire to the HD100?

is the HD100 turned off when you plug in the firewire? If you plugged teh firewire into the HD100 while it is on, there is a possibility that the firewire in your camera could have been fried.

Do you have Windows XP with service pack 2 installed?

It wont capture in DV for some reason, and that's what I've been shooting on most of the time, but it does play that sound when it's connected. When it does, a thing will pop up asking what I want to use, and I click Vegas, and after I click on capture, it will either freeze or just have a black screen and say nothing will capture.

Do you have the firewire switch set in HDV mode? If so it won't work for DV capture, you have to set that switch to the right mode...
