I shot the first scene of a film I'm working on last night. I thought everything looked great but the Director is concerned about the edges of the characters looking to clean cut and wants a softer edge look. He was judging based on viewing the images on a 20" LCD HD monitor. We're shooting 1080i/24PA.
I have the 'detail' and the 'v detail' setting both at -7. I'm pretty sure I should get a soft edge filter but I know nothing about them. Is their anything that anyone can recommend to me? And do I need to get a matte box to hold the filter?
