Soft Golden Glow effect?

I'm going to do a vinyard shot in the next week or 2 and want to get a dreamy golden glow and saturated colors.

I plan on doing the shot in the early morning to get soft filtered light (California location) with the sun at my back, but not too high. The shot is looking down on a knoll in the vinyard and panning L to R and /or vice versa ) not sure which one I'll use yet, but I'm going to shoot both. I may even shoot just before sunset (again sun at back)to get a different color light and compare the 2.

Camera is a new DVX100b that comes on Thursday and I've never handled a DVX before - Oh yeah, and Barry's book won't come for another 4 to 6 weeks in the rebate package, so I can't refer to that.

I'd like to have good color saturation and the dreamy golden glow effect.

Other previous posts here had suggested using a pro mist filter to help get that effect. I've decided to use mainly B+W filters, so I'll have to see if they have one. DOes every one agree this is the right approach?

I thought I'd also use one of the Cine gamma settings maybe "V"?

I have a B+W haze 010 filter for lense protection.

I would appreciate any and all suggestions to pull this shot off well, since I haven't had time to play with the camera yet. It will be the "money" shot. The rest is simply studio interview, etc.

Oh yeah, this will be done in 60i to be intercut with the studio and interview and product shots.

I haven't shot too many landscapes like you are describing, however, make sure that you turn the "detail level" down in the DVX menu. Personally, I want to barf every time I see 60i with that much sharpening enhancement going on. Good luck with the shoot!

BennisHahn,

Thanks for the tip. I'll probably try several detail levels based on that.

Should I shoot with the F1 standard scene file?

I also thought I'd use a #1 warm card to bring out golden highlights and tone.

Any other thoughts?

Based on the previous posts in other threads recommending a Pro Mist (which is the Tiffen brand name), I'm going to experiment with the B+W Black Frost 4X4 that has similar characteristics with a little greater contrast in the dark colors.

I've also decided to use the B+W kaesman polarizer and the warm card while on the Cine like "V" gamma setting.

I'd still love to hear other suggestions to help improve the "golden glow" and or saturation.
