Re: SoCal DVXuser Meeting Reminder

I suppose if we had someone who would set up a streaming feed.
Last nights meeting was the clearest presentation on independent feature film financing I have ever heard.
John W. Cones explained in simple terms the guidelines (for California and the US generally) for raising money to make a movie. He talked about how to keep it legal and several different ways of going about finding potential investors. He also touched on the different types of and ways of forming the company that would manage a film project.
It was definetly a worth while evening.
I asked him if he would like to give a presentation to the folks up in the Hollywood area and he said he would be glad to.
If anyone is interested in helping set up a streaming feed contact me and we will see if we can make it happen.

We also had a general overview on the filmout process by Matt McFarland from Ascent Media. He invited the group up to his Burbank facility for a demonstration of their new Lasergraphics Film Printer.
He offered to do a test of actual DVX footage shot by owners that we could show at the meeting there.
He explained a few other reason why 4:3 is still the prefered format for worldwide film distribution (they do distribution fullfilment) and what the purpose for shooting in 16:9.
It was a very enlightning information.

Re: SoCal DVXuser Meeting Reminder

Gee, did anyone there have a video camera?

If the presenters and their info is that good, then maybe some kind soul could record it, compress it, and host it. Then it could be shared.
