This message primarily applies to those in the Hampton Roads (Virginia area):
I am a member of the Tidewater Soaring Society, a glider club located near Smithfield, VA (http://www.tidewatersoaring.org).
We are looking at starting a soaring documentary soon, consisting of interviews, in-flight aerial photography, and footage from the airport where the gliders fly. Right now, I'm looking at shooting with the DVX because that's the only camera that I have. However, I would really like to be doing it in HD (wish I had a RED!)
If there's anyone in the Hampton Roads area with an HVX (or better!) who is itching for a way to put it to use and a project to work on, please let me know. I have a fair amount of equipment but am limited to SD right now.
This is a non-profit club, and there's no $$ involved. However, the video will probably be sold for a nominal fee and you might (MIGHT) get some compensation. Don't count on it though--this is mostly for experience and a good time (and a video for the ol' portfolio?!?!) You'll probably get some free flights in an airplane/glider too!
Although I'm essentially in charge of the video, I would be happy to collaborate with anyone on the creative side of production.
No need to be an expert by any means, but at the same time this is not a project for the newbie.
