So... what is your Cam/NLE combination?

Ha! Now thread hijacking as well!

Enough of the light saber wielding, come clean on what Cam/NLE you use like the rest of the mortals here! (Ducks a swipe from the ban hammer).

I use whatever camera is appropriate to the project (usually one of the P2 cameras) and cut in CS5 and Vegas. Or FCP if need be.

Primarily use HPX370 and Media Composer. Sometimes Premiere CS5 if it's something quick.

Can I ask a follow on question to the O.P.'s original? What camera and/or editing gear did you FIRST use?

For me it was 3/4" Umatic cuts only editing and... oh I forget what camera it was. Just remember that it was separate from the deck. Oh, and those 20 minute tape loads.....

I was lucky enough to start out as a creative Director, then a Commercials (TVC) Director so I never needed a Cam or NLE - Always just hovered over DP and Editor's shoulders.
So this is actually my first Cam and NLE.

I have worked in a lot of Final Cut though and shot the odd thing here and there with HDV cameras in the past.

Oh, man. Some Panasonic VHS-C camera using Microsoft VidEdit (copy and paste frames through multiple open instances and one audio track was about all the functionality you got). Footage was captured via an ATI All-in-Wonder card into a 320x240 resolution file.

2 HVX200's, T2i, FCS3, Sony DVCAM 450, CS3 MC and my wits.
EDIT: Just Dl'd Lightworks, gonna play with that for a while

While those aren't the actual models I started on... they are close. My first professional gigs were with this camera.

A Canon 1014 XLS, with the transferred Super 8 cut on 3/4" Umatic SP. I have come a long way and have just got a Sony FS-100 and have Final Cut Studio 3.

(Seriously- I'd run up and down football sidelines carrying the two anchors...)

2 BVU-200 3/4" U-matic decks with controller (4x shuttle, but to FF/Rew tape had to unwind from head so no picture...)

Nothing worse than finding the first gear you used in a "TV Museum..."

Omigosh!

Some legends walk among us!

The discipline of a log and capture from DV tape was even too much for me and put me right off wanting to produce anything.

let alone those funny film-o-matic thingiemabobs.

**RESPECT**

550D and MC 5.0, through multiple upgrades from XDV 4.5

Used to have an HXV until some toe-rag swiped it.

Wouldn't go Avid if I was starting from scratch, *way* beyond anything I need, would probably go Sony Vegas or Edius.
