FS7: So what IS the OMB ENG solution..

But when paired with the Fs7 one loses IS and AF. Correct?

I think from all the "all-round" zoom in the sub 5k category I liked the canon 18-80 from IQ and mechanical standpoint.
that paired with a sigma 18-35 cine or regular would make a good combo and could operate on other cameras as well.

If someone wants to drive to central NJ with an FS7/II and Metabones, I have the 18-80 Canon- we could test it. PM or email me. karlkimdp@gmail.com Though my guess is you might as well go with the Sony unless you want EF mount for flexibility.

Thats how I do it, I have the fuji 18-55 a canon 50-300 and an Otus 55 and 85.
I say to myself and the client if I can't shoot in on the zeisses ill grab the zooms and the zooms just stay in the bag all day.

the 50-300 is an FD converted lens? I saw one on eBay recently, looked very interesting, but it was only a 4.5 lens

Its the FD 50-300mm f4.5L its a beast but very sharp great range I use it for outdoor city scapes and landscapes its fully manual I actually put my a6300 on it and attach the tripod foot to the Tripod. This way I don't need a heavy tripod for super telephoto. it doesn't need conversion just an FD- E Mount adapter.

I've tried that lens on the SL, its huge compared to the other photo-zooms, but felt nice. Not sure if you could get it with electronics on a E-mount though, the Leicas are mirrorless aswell?

It's a $5k electronic fiddle lens with no manual aperture. Take the 5k sell all the other photolenses you have and buy a real lens like the Zeiss lwz or the Fuji 20-120 or the two new fujis for 10k.

Good point Icarus. Very good point, perfectly made. WTF is your real name BTW? I always have images of some dude in sandals with poor choice in adhesives! ;-)

Its actually Sisyphus, Everybody seems to be sitting on an arsenal of Vintage, Legacy primes, zooms adapters worth thousands of dollars combined that they attribute some magical quality to they would never ever touch again if they had one really functional cine lens.

So much this. Stop poo pooing around trying to fit a square peg in a round whole.

Unless you buy an Otus :)

EDIT: I did not write 'poo pooing'

Damn, cool name. Your namesake doesn't sound like such a nice guy though...

"King Sisyphus promoted navigation and commerce but was avaricious and deceitful. He also killed travellers and guests, a violation of xenia, which fell under Zeus's domain. He took pleasure in these killings because they allowed him to maintain his iron-fisted rule." - Wikipedia.
