So what does an XL2 sell for nowaday?

Am thinking of selling my GY-DV500 and getting a used XL2 as a B camera. Just curious as to what you recent XL2 owners/sellers have been getting them for so that I can decide if it's worth it. Ebay prices flunctuate too much to be reliable and I would prefer buying on here anyway.

I'm especially interested in deals with only the XL2 body since I plan to get the 16x manual lense and use that instead of the stock one.

So if you can chime in on the kind of price I can expect or if you have a XL2 to sell, contact me. I'm considering buying within the next three weeks. Thanks.

I happen to have an XL2 for sale right now and I am an active member on dvinfo.net where there is a high concentration of Canon users, and in my experience, an average price for a used XL2 is around $2700. I have mine listed at $2,850 because it is practically brand-new, but I would be willing to negotiate a bit.

That is with the standard 20x lens included. I don't see many for sale without the lens, because most people buy the whole thing and then there is no use to keep the lens if you're selling the body, so it is difficult to find just the body used.

If you do a search of this forum, you'll find some Canon XL1's and XL2's that have not moved.

Don't get me wrong, I've been using an XL2 for the past year and a half and it's a fine SD camera. However, I've moved on to HD and found the HVX fills my needs.

Judging from the prices I've seen on this forum, I think it's safe to say that XL2's seem to be offered as low as $2500ish, while an XL1 or XL1s as low as $1600. These are ballpark and of course vary by seller.

Yea, I use the XH-A1 as my A camera and I'm completely happy with it. I'm leaning toward the XL2 as a B-cam because of it's impressive form factor, 16:9 and 24p. I just hate having to shoot 4:3 60i every time I do two camera coverage; it's like dragging the A1 down.

I wouldn't be looking to pay more than $2500 for an XL2. Before the A1 came out I noted that most people trying to move their XL2 ended up selling for lower than that because it's not as popular a camera as the DVX. Right now I'm wondering if the lowered street price of a brand new one has affected XL2 used price any.
