So Scarlet is 2/3"? Why should that excite me?

Something like 3k res at the look of f4 or f5. For $13K? Please tell me why, as a filmmaker, a 2/3" chip and its inherent DOF should get me ready to fork over something close to F3 money. If resolution were that important, I don't think Roger Deakins would be shooting on an Alexa and snubbing RED.

EDIT--Now I see another report saying that its sensor is S35 size. Ok, now THAT would excite me. But info is at a trickle and too early to be reliable. Seen two different reports of sensor size. And another report of S35 chip. Now this is getting interesting...

Jim Jannard's first post tonight (before the site crashed) stated that the 2/3rd size sensor was so last year.

The Scarlet is pretty much the same camera as the Epic just with lower bitrate recording options. That means Super 35mm sensor.

That's huge. The first news article I read, came out about 20 minutes ago (the Red website has crashed big time).

I would have loved to hear the crowd at Canon event tonight after Red showed everybody their hand. What a night!
