Wow I just finished a project which was shot in hdv on a Sony HRZ-U ( i think that camera). I downconverted the footage to dv25 and I did my editng and composting and put it on the dvd. I can't believe how good the downconverted footage looks! This really makes me want to sell my dvx to get a cannon hdv or the hvx camera but still shoot sd with those or maybe shoot hdv then downconvert. I was pretty amazed at the difference in video quality.

the z1u is a really nice camera but it does not shoot progressive. if you don't want or need that then yeah it's awesome. if you do want progressive then i'd suggest the hvx or if that's too much $$$ for you, then consider the canon a1, it's does not shoot progressive but it does immulate progressive (24f) and from what i've heard, it looks exactly the same.

Wow, didn't know the cannon a1 didn't shoot progressive...guess I will save up for a hvx and get one of those eventually. Do you know if you can shoot SD with the hvx to tape and to p2 or is it just tape?
