My 5 year old wants to cheer and I don't know how I feel about it. I want her to play Soccer and here, both programs run parallel and she can't do both. She said she would like to play soccer but if she had a choice it would be cheering.
I want her to play TEAM sports not jump around with Pom Pom's shaking her booty to single ladies. (not saying cheering isn't a sport)

I know I have to let her do what she wants to do sometimes and It's not all about what I want. I guess I'm just turning into my parents.

dude she's 5....dressing up like a cheerleader is what 5 year olds do. does ambition really start that young? haha...

(and if you won't say it,i will. cheering ain't a sport.)

my daughter is 4 going on 14...her favorite show is "iCarly", and she doesn't think i'm as cool as Spencer...ugh...

what the hell?! are we our parents? LOL

LOL. I know it.

My daughter can't even watch iCarly anymore because she starts talking real crazy to her mother after a few shows. And no one is as cool as Spencer my friend, no one.:Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

i forgot to mention, my Eden has her top 5 movies...check this out...

1: Peewee's Big Adventure
2: The Incredible Hulk (Edward Norton)...yeah, i don't know why.
3: The Secret of Nimh
4: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
5: Labrynth

so i have her trained fairly well. She's also addicted to old Tom & Jerry cartoons.

and she'll watch ALL of these while dressed in a cheerleader costume, no lie.

That is one hell of movie list for a 4 year old. It's dope actually.

My daughter does not even have a favorite movie. and I wish Tom $ Jerry still came on here. I would watch those my damn self. Hilarious.

Find a way to let her try it. My kids have tried, and subsequently lost interest in, many such curiosities. BTW, we went through a big iCarly phase in my house this year (11 year old daughter, boy and girl twins of 8). Well written, and probably one of the few sitcoms we actually enjoy together.

I have a 5 yr old daughter too ...

cheer leader today,

tomorrow it will be horse back riding

the day after it will be ballerina

and by the end of the week it will be something else

don't worry about it !

I actually don't mind iCarly. It keeps her and my son from fighting and arguing about one thing or another. My wife does not like her watching it. and if the wife says no, it's pretty much no. I do agree that it causes ky to say things she normally would not. There is one episode that found Laugh out loud funny.

You are so right. Because she is in Ballet and Hip Hop Dance right now. But I will be damned if she's getting on a horse. I'm scared to death of those things.

Richard - you're about 10 years too early in your cheerleader worry. When she's 15 and shaking it in a short skirt WORRY.

Talk to her about the wonders of being a filmmaker and let her play with your equipment. Then take her to festivals and conferences. Once she is hooked to that world she will be completly u der your influence and it will be easier to control her. Ovbiusly Do this gradually letting her play with your stuff now (remember to take anything that paints away from her while she is playing and learning) then when she is older carry on with the plan. If you don't want her to become a filmmaker then I'm out of ideas hahahaha

not to freak you out Richard, but my first girlfriend was 15 in a cheerleader skirt and we all remember those days. Good luck man. Glad it's you and not me.

On the bright side, you've got 10 years to make your plans. I'd suggest using these 10 years to set your family up so they'd be ok if you have to spend a little time in jail for assault.

Funny, as last week my 6 year old daughter had her first horse riding lesson...I'm more scared of her watching icarly again!

LOL! I have been scared of horses pretty much my entire life. When I was young I witnessed my buddy Mike get bit in the face by one his family's horses and that was pretty much it for me.

I'm really allergic to horses so I don't go near the things either, but my wife's parents raise Arabian horses on their ranch so it was inevitable. People laugh cause I'm the suburban/city boy scared of bees and my wife grew up on a farm. If it involves electronics, I'm your man, but she pretty much wears the toolbelt in the family.

That is just amazing.

I'm only afraid of 3 things; Yellow Jackets, Horses, or anything that resembles Grimus.
