I just got the dvx100a along with some accessories for my 18th birthday.

I played with it all day yesterday, and the better part of today. I think the footage I shot looks great, but I'm sure the camera is capable of a ton more.

Just wondering if anyone has some good tips/tricks or made mistakes I can learn from.

I also got barry's book with it.

eh, the footage is actually pretty crappy
I'm sorta confused by like exposure and white balance and all that...

I know there is the 3.2k and 5.6k presets. And then the A and B.

I'm sorta confused how that works though, you have to like press the AWB button the front of the camera while zoomed in on something white?

Is there anyway just to adjust in manually?

I have a lot of learning to do.

Why not search the 37000+ threads before asking "Just wondering if anyone has some good tips/tricks or made mistakes I can learn from"?

This was easier.
And I'm so used to the boards at IGN with their gimpy search feature I didn't even bother.

well, you bought the book, go to scene file settings on menu, and start there. but you seem to be more confused about how to use the camera or cameras in general. you're posting with the wrong motive. you dont know how to white balance? you should start learning before posting stuff like this. no offense, just saving you trouble.

use "the book", my man...

explains everything in there... after that, it's just imagination and creativity.

Wow, a dvx for your 18th!!! I wish I was that lucky, I had to spend my life savings on mine. Good luck with it J2
