So I got the harddrive back

monte

Bag of Douche
The guy was only able to get about 5 files off it so I'm probably gonna have to start way back on the music video. ****ing a.

So after I punched a few holes in the walls I decided, Ok lets atleast start working on the video again. I hook up the new external harddrive that I just imported a bunch of footage to and BAM the firewire drive is suddenly "DEAD" it's not working.

I go into Hardware Add - and find that the device is "Unable to Start" *(the device being the Firewire card setup)*

Wow, can you say "THE UNIVERSE IS AGAINST MONTE"? Cus I'm saying it more and more often now...

Monte, THE UNIVERSE IS AGAINST YOU.

There, it's been said.

Pain about the drives....it's a lot like Russian Roulette, except there's 5 bullets, and 1 empty chamber....

Pookie - If i ever meet you in real life I want you to punch *me* in the face repeatedly

Next - so this means i gotta get a new firewire card?

Sigh

Yes, I tried 3 different firewires. Unmounting, remounting it to the motherboard. Any other things to check with the firewire card?

My first choice would be to dsimount the drive, turn it off, uninstall the drivers, reboot, turn the drive back on and let it reinstall. SOmetimes sthis solves problems with thes eplug & plays. Aren't you glad the country's electric system does not run on Windows?

wow monte that really sucks dude. that video was awesome and i know you put a ton of roto work into it. sorry to hear that man.

Yeah, definitely get the card to play nice without anything connected first. You shouldn't need special drivers if you're running Windows XP, but make sure you have all the latest updates, too. Good luck.
