Hey whats up guys... I was looking for the AVS thread that LPC had been keeping us up to date in. Did it get trashed? Or is it just buried so far down that I couldn't find it. Just thought I would ask and see what the deal was.

I sure hope that baby was put to bed. There's nothing wrong with updates, but for pete's sake to keep running the same godforsaken overbloated thread with an obsolete title runs contrary to the purpose of the board: "Latest HVX200 News." Be courteous and start a new thread.
 
I wondered that too.. for it may have continued into the ages with no one single person accepting that challenge.

Also as cameras now flow into barb boosom the need for compatriot sympathy and angst relief is behind us. I have cam... went effin nuts today and bought the p2store.. which I never thought I would.. but landed a gig to pay for it. So I get the joy to tell the wife that I'm shooting racing this weekend at Seabring but that I maybe break even on the gas.. and look at this shoebox with lights that I got for the gig...

When does the bloodletting end... ?
 
The bloodletting never does end,,you can only slow it down for short periods of time ! Seriously though, the P2 store though pricey is the link you need to make p2 workflow work. a laptop is good but not always appropriate, You really need both. Look at it as free film for several years and it doesn't hurt nearly as much. You have to agree though; once you try p2 you never want to go back to tape.

Now that's valuable info., and I'm glad to hear it. What sucked about that thread was that it was titled "4 cameras now at AVS" or something rather, and those cameras had been sold weeks before that thread finally stopped circulating up and down the board.

Thanks, I'll give Barb a call. I definitely don't want to pay more than $5,400 for the cam alone. Anyone can write or PM me if they know of a similar deal. Thanks again.

I do think that the thred was good. And I agree that it was getting alittle out of hand. I just got on today and It was gone. I guess I will call Barb tomarrow and find out what is going on with my cam. But I do find it kind of funny that the thread up and disapered in the middle of the night. Kind of like it was taken and thrown in the deseret. Spy kind of stuff
 
Yes that thread was helpful to find out what number the AVS list was up to and when the next shipments were coming in.

If anyone has an update from Barb, post it here.
 
Well maybe this could be that thread again for a while. I will call Barb again today to see where she's at... and to also thank her again. She's been a real straight shooter.. not trying to upsell anything... no pressure and ultimately she's responsive and professional. If you call Barb... she will answer and or call you right back. A lot of dealers I've found can't be bothered with such small orders (10k is small to some people) and it's like they'll get to you if they don't have anything better going on.

That's how the local guy turned out to be. I called to see if the cam was in.. he said NO. Damn, I told you I'd call you when it comes in. Goodbye and click.. That was it!
Well he was pretty surprised when I called him right back to call him on his lack of professionalism and that he just pissed me off so much that I will buy it elsewhere... And when he did call me back weeks later.. I had the pleasure of telling him that on the day before I got my HVX and paid 900 dollars less than he was selling it for.. and that I recommended people to Barb.. and that she would sell 50. He on the other hand.. who is kind of a prick.. hasn't been able to move 3 yet. I think filmmakers don't put up with that crap.

I know I don't... and I like how Barb is. I like how Barry is... I like how Jared is.. and I like how my DVXuser and other forum brothers are. I mean... we don't pay anything for the moderators to help us like they do.. And likewise I try to be as helpful as I can...

It's scary going into the HD thing with so much money and energy riding in it... Glad that we can ***** and yell and laugh about it here.
 
I think its downfall was that it was located in the HVX news forum. If it was in the cafe, or whatnot, it might have had longer life. I would have preferred to see it moved (or even locked) rather than deleted, but no biggie, I suppose. I predict this one will not last long here, though!

I think it should have been locked or had the misleading title updated, not deleted. The info WAS helpful, guys, and keep it coming, just not the way it was circulating.

GOOD FOR YOU, Justyn!!!! It always amazes me how many people are still in business who really shouldn't be. One reason is that not enough people point out to them that they now have a lot more competition in the age of the Internet. I hope he either learned a valuable lesson or is soon headed out of business.
 
Well the thread dose pertain to the HVX but I do think that if this thread is determined to be killed or deleted that it should be moved to the cafe where it could live. If Briceman can have a thread that has no info just chat; we should be able to post info. But all is good and Briceman is the man and I do enjoy his posts.. Keep it up.
 
thanks seindj... trying to fight the good fight.. I also really take offense to pricks ad people who treat you like ****. I mean.. in this business people talk to you and treat you much worse than they ever could in almost anything else. Especially when you are coming up.. like as a PA, or in my case as a small production company. I like to work for myself.. so atleast there's only one prick running the show... and I always treat people with respect and try to have fun doing this crap.


Ya never know when that PA will be hiring you in the future.. or who will become the next big thing. Being a jerk is also a sign of insecurity and lack of ability I think. To compensate...
 
Just talked with Barbara. Very nice, as always. She said she is expecting a batch of about eight HVX200s on the 20th. Mine is in that batch!
 
Hey Endurance Man. Thanks for the info, and justyn I know exactly what you are talking about. I have hiered a couple of PA's in the past and months latter they give me a call offering me to work as DP. or producer for their projects. So it is just better if you treat everyone how you want to be treated.

I have to laugh. Being the "boss" I always have to remember that business is like a tree full of monkeys. Those at the top looking down see only smiling faces. Those at the bottom looking up see nothing but a**holes.

Karma is always there....:)
