So anybody actually read real books?

Yes! There's something sacredly special about flipping through the books and their smell! Something I can't find with e-books.

Suskind's Perfume is a damn fine book. It might not have the best plot, but the olfactory descriptions and so surreal, you want to put your hands into the scene. On top of that, I'm reading Confucius' Dao De Jing in both Chinese and English simultaneously... And trying to understand it. It's truly a mindwreck if you try to think into it. But it's none the less definitely worth trying - Just imagine the things you'll get out of it.

Wow, Ullanta. I can only read books like I watch movies. One at a time.

My interests range from action/adventure (go figure) to biographies of interesting individuals (interesting to me, that is).

I had a goal of one book per week, and until lately, I have been good for the past 7 years. Stupid economy.

To all.....favorite authors?

Luis De Bernieres
Herman Hesse
Josyf Konrad
still thinking there's got to be more...

B-o-o-k

Is that like.... some kind of code for old people antiques?

:bath:

Actually reading Alas, Babylon currently.

I just read The Amityville Horror....it sucked. I was dissapointed. Not scary in the sligtest and I have never beleived it ever happened. Before that I read Filth and Trainspotting by Irvine Welsh...Filth was better but not as 'controversal' as al lthe critics made out. Then I read The Uninvited about a Welsh family in the 70's living on a farm who experience visitations from strange floating men in masks at night and other extra terrestial stuff. It was ok. Then I read The Entity..much better, the movie is great too.

I have a shed load of H.P Lovecraft books, really like his stuff. Willaim Hope Hodgson is cool too.

Is it me or are so many books over rated like alot of movies?

I thought I'd feel the same way, but you adapt pretty quick. The e-paper is a nice facsimile. Once you get into a book you don't really notice a difference, and it's nice carrying an entire bookstore in your hands.

I read a lot. History, fiction, physics, engineering, design, religious history and philosophy, politics, etc. I enjoy a paper book, and still buy them. Don't have an e-reader. Maybe some day, but not in a rush, to own one.

Sure, a great many books are under- and over-rated, just like a great proportion of almost anything.

I hate reading. But, I'm so enthralled by the Lewis & Clark stories that I picked up Undaunted Courage. Figure there will be a new movie about L&C soon.

I used to read a lot but haven't read a real book in a long time. I'm trying to get back into it now though so I bought a couple off Amazon. First one I'm reading is called 50 best short stories

Reading 1984 next. Yes it will be the first time. Lol I'm probably going to be disappointed because of the extremely high expectations I have for it based on how well known that book is
