So anybody actually read real books?

I am halfway through "One Second After" by William R. Forstchen. Amazing grip on human emotion and response in apocalyptic situations.

I fully expect this to be made into a movie soon.

What are you reading now, in a real book, not a stupid Kindle. Yes, am old school, so sue me.

Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood was the last really good book I read. It's a post apocalyptic/dystopia story. When Nietzsche Wept was also very good. It documents a fictional friendship between Nietzsche and Joseph Breuer, so you can imagine it's a perfect melding of philosophy and psychology. As far as non fiction goes, The Lucifer Principle by Howard Bloom is among my top 5 books.

i've read one book in the past 10 years. it was about chris farley. can anyone top that, or do i win the dumb guy award?

Very good actually. He was a lead climbing guide for the 1996 Everest climbing season that saw 16 climbers die. Tells about other climbs and his death in an avalanche.

Chris Farley climbs?

I read books! They're cool!

I just finished Lacuna by Barbara Kingsolver. And am starting "Beginning the World Again". And also "Make room, make room!" and "The Incas: New Perspectives". And "Swords in the Mist". I keep different books in different places so I always have one handy. The ones that live in the car come in handy, but don't get finished for a long time! The ones in my pockets get done fast.

Wow, Ullanta. I can only read books like I watch movies. One at a time.

My interests range from action/adventure (go figure) to biographies of interesting individuals (interesting to me, that is).

I had a goal of one book per week, and until lately, I have been good for the past 7 years. Stupid economy.

To all.....favorite authors?

Just finished Live by the Sword (about the Kennedy administration's attempts to assassinate Castro) and a sci-fi anthology book titled Futureshocks. Not sure what I'm moving onto after that.

Favorite Authors

Harlan Ellison
Stanislaw Lem

You are not alone nor is it an indication of being dumb! I think I come close to your record. Last book I read was Mitch Albom - the Five People You Meet in Heaven and it was on a transatlantic flight 2002 or 2003 and before that was Yoshimoto's Kitchen back in 1995 also on a long haul flight.

It's hard to find time to read, I tend to spend more time writing. Do comics count? I'm 84 issues up-to-date with The Walking Dead. But this post sums up the total of my reading for the past two decades provided we aren't talking film scripts

I'm more of a non-ficition reader. Just read Death By Black Hole by Neil De Grasse Tyson. And Bonk! by Mary Roach.

Currently reading Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman by Murukami whilst I wait for the translation of 1Q84 ( ichi qyu hachi yon )
