Snorting Cocaine

you run a small tube taped to actors arm ( hide from camera) .. run it into side of rolled up bill$$ ..you then rig other end to a vacuum cleaner ( type that has hose).. it then sucks up anything you have = sugar , flour , coke etc

i believe in some movies they use vitamin b (its commonly cut w. coke), and its a vitamin so its got to be good, right?

whoa no not vit. b, but inositol(sp) yech. powdered sugar doesn't clump up in the nose and it's sweet going down

Really guys, you dont have to snort anything at all. In fact i would reccommend NOT making your actors snort anything. There are several ways to get around it, and I know I would feel uncomfortable if an independent director i didn't know well made me snort something. Look at my previous post. That IS how they do it...even on big budget sets. I learned that method from a professional Special Effects guy that did effects for movies like Starwars and House of Wax (the remake and original). He's been around for a while.

Jeez guys...you dont have to snort anything. Here's how the pro's do it. You take a straw...fill it with the powder...whatever kind of powder you want....set it on the table with some powder already sprinkled on the table a little bit...then you film the actor laying the powder out on the table in a line with the straw up to his nose and then you reverse it in post. Bada bing bada boom...it looks like he's snorting the stuff.

Sounds like this would be a pretty safe option, though it has me wondering how real it looks? Do you have any examples you can post?

Two words. Method Acting.

I totally agree with Stedicamsteel. Chances are your actors are coke heads anyways. Why not put a line in the budget for "medicinal supplies" and buy them a few grams? They'll thank you for it later when they have pulled off the performance of their life, and your audience will be impressed with your realistic work.
