Has anyone ever tried to animate a mysterious snake like creature? Would trapcode's 3D stroke suffice? I am toying with it now to try and come up with something and 3D stroke makes some interesting effects, but does not have a texture to it, just a solid color. Any other ideas?
That's true. You can fake it a little by using your texture cut into multiple pieces and using expressions to move them around, but I don't know if you'll get the animation you want that way. The next step would be a 3D program.
I just tried another approach which looked pretty good from my point of view. I took a snakeskin texture, applied the cylinder effect, made it rotate once for a 10 second clip. Brought it back in, masked it off, put it over rolling video applied blobilizer to give it a twisting, morphing feel. and just linked em end to end as they came across the screen. Not bad needs some refining so its not so mechanical.
Anyway, I am sure there is a better way to do it. Hey oneinfiniteloop, do you know of any 3D programs that might be an easy learning curve and give me this result?
I use Cinema4D, but the learning curve for most programs is close to the same, some harder than others. You can also try Zaxwerks Invigorator which might have a way to pull it off. It runs inside AE and brings basic 3D to platform.
