SmallHD v. TV Logic

That's what I thought about my LVM-071W, but they surprised me by adding transparent and panoramic scopes, focus in red , 1:1 pixel viewing and ...........

As I've said before, it's really hard for me to imagine what TVLogic could update to make this monitor any better. They got it right on the first try, or at least the version I have.

The TV logic looks more accurate. I bought the SmallHD, but its still QUITE nice. And actually, has False color. Which i REALLLY like.

Since im not neccesarily judging color on a 5" screen, i can live with the slight difference in color accuracy for the benefit of false color. Makes exposure a breeze.

Had i been in the market for a new monitor, i'd get the TVlogic. But the TV logic beats out the SMallHD by millimeters. its more about, do you want a Waveform? or a False Color?

The TV Logic WFM-056 has user selectable false color. It's called luma check.

Small HD is definintly unorthdox.

glad the TVlogic has Falso color! i guess that settles that....

Just got my SmallHD yesterday. It was very impressive. As a focus puller, I like the way they show focus assist, it's very helpful. And the flippable picture is another good feature. Lovin it.

For me the AF100 already has a great waveform monitor I can use on its LCD. I've battled between these two and the TV Logic is going to be my choice. The Waveform on it is one big reason (although the AF100's is great) but the other one I've only seen one person even mention and nobody list as a HUGE reason for choosing it...the frame markers and ability to set a transparency.

I'm so excited to have a way to mark off my aspect ratio with actual black bars or semi-transparent bars without any form of tape or covering on my monitor. That ABOVE ALL is my reason for wanting it. The markers default on the AF100 are one of the greatest setbacks of it for me. It really isn't of much help especially if I'm trying to pan/tilt. I have a hard time keeping it clear in my head where the lines are.

If you peruse the TV Logic WFM-056WP group discount thread, you'll see that I called out the markers features several times. This is a carry over from their larger monitors and the ability to change aspect ratios, including user aspect ratio, change maker colors and level, and make the outer area opaque or semi-opaque is very handy, as you know.

I placed my order on Wednesday which is, apparently, the same day you posted the thread about the SmallHD group buy. I just received my order today. I made a phone call to SmallHD and explained the situation to Reed who refunded 10% of my total order which was a good chunk as I had ordered gobs of accessories along with the monitor. They took care of me and I have a great monitor to boot. Thanks for the heads up on the group buy... (which I still don't know how I missed it to begin with).

I had same experience. I got my difference refunded quickly, they were very nice to customer. I'd definitely recommend SmallHD to my buddies.

I will be returning my smallHD DP6 and getting the TVLogic. I'm not happy with the color of my DP6. It's just not accurate enough for my liking and I hear that the TVLogic has better controls to get it right. It has a wierd looking warm tint to it and no matter how I adjust it I cant get it to look right.

Has SmallHD added waveform or vectorscope in it's latest firmware updates? or have plans to? I'm currently in the market for a monitor, and read this thread to choose. But honestly, the idea of having to send in my monitor everytime for an update, is not ideal.

The fact is that tvlogic's unit has more to offer and not need to be upgraded in order to beat smallHd.

It costs significantly more, so it'd better have more to offer, and yes, I have one. I also have the SmallHD DP4-EVF, which I've been using while the TVLogic has been collecting dust.
