SmallHD DP6+AF100 Calibration. Is it possible?

So, after struggling with trying to match my AF100 LCD and my SmallHD DP6, I'm coming here to ask for advice. Has anyone else been able to calibrate their DP6 to their AF100? Every result I've tried has resulted in comical difference in hue and saturation.

What settings are everyone else running their DP6 at?

In the end I sold my DP6 and replaced it with a Marshall 056MD. I gave up trying to match the screen on the AF with the DP6 screen.

I haven't tried but I did see a video comparing the DP6 with the Zacuto and the Zacuto RVF was more accurate. Does the DP6 have blue only setting?

It does have a blue only setting. And I tried using it to calibrate it. But I just couldn't get it to look right.

Ditto. I can make the SmallHD calibrate to bars nearly perfect, and yet it's still not quite the same when you see the image. Too much yellow still, even after the firmware updates. Try calibrating it with bars, then point it to a chroma green setup (I did this after the monitor had been on for a good hour). It will make it quite apparent what's going on.

It's kind of disconcerning that a $1000 monitor can't calibrate properly. i could have gotten a lower resolution marshal and have been fine.

My monitor is greenish in the normal detents. Normal color bar blue "gun" (sorry an old analog term :-) only hue adjustment does not work...still green. I finally just set it up next to the AF-100 LCD and eye balled the color hue in that way. Not optimal but it works. Odd, one would think Small could calibrate the monitor with a vectorscope before shipping and be dead nuts on.

"Blue only" will only help you to calibrate luminance. Chroma is a separate issue. For monitoring what I shoot I ignore chroma completely. I ensure the camera is set up to know what my result will be - generally a few test shots on a broadcast monitor in my edit suite will tell me anything I need to know, and after Ive done it a couple of times with any camera I can trust what the camera's result will be under given circumstances. That's the way I like to work. Maybe not for everyone.

The other question I have - why are you trying to match it to the AF100 LCD? That's not a really accurate start point anyway.

I've just heard from a lot of people that the AF100 LCD is pretty accurate to what the camera is shooting. That being said, my Small HD is WAY WAY off. Completely different hues are shown on it vs the AF100 LCD.

Small HD uses BOE panel (everyone else pretty much as well- it used to be the only wide 5.6" panel with 720p resolution) Unfortunately that is a 6 bit panel so you don't get the colors that the camera LCD can display

I have a 4 yr old Marshall 7" that has very accurate color (as do all Marshalls), but is just 800 x 480.
But I really like the new 5.6" Marshall V-LCD56MD (is that yours, Editman?).

1280 x 800, Waveform (full screen or in the corner), selectable color peaking focus assist, False Color exposure.
Lots of battery options, from AB to Panasonic.

HDMI for $799, 3G SDI for $999 at B&H.

I like.

I might be picking this up next year.
