Playing with a surfer friend

All handheld and homebuilt rig 24-105 - which is getting there

I feel Im getting the hang of shot compositions/durations that work hand held

FF is a must even at f8/11 50 or longer

Went to sticks for the long lens stuff

Nikkor 400 2.8 with a doubler

That was pretty nasty to use, having the same handling as an RPG launcher, I think EX1 with an extender and image stabiliser could be better for long work

Also the 400+sticks being of a weight that challenging to the 6'5 230lb weaking that I am

ALso check out the 'worlds longest focus pull' as he exits the sea !

The surf died though :(

enjoy

What focal lengths was the stabilizer stuff at. I know you said 24-105, but what was it set at most of the time?

Thanks for sharing.

It is set to be balanced at 24mm - maybe a tad wide - wide shows horizon roll too much, this is a homebuilt rig still under construction that is only 'nearly flyable' - DB and drop time not sorted

also I can see the zoom falling apart if flown zoomed out

No issue. Just wondering mostly to see what the limitations are of stabilizers and focal lengths. It's about right for stabilizer/steadi work anyway.
