Small light fig-rig type setup?

Hi guys,

I've been looking at getting a small handheld rig to use with my GH3. I want to still be able to move the camera all over the place and like the controlled handheld look you can seemingly get with a fig rig. I would however like something that ideally is considerably smaller and was wondering what my options were.

At the moment all I've really seen as being possible would be some sort of small rail setup on the bottom with handles then coming off of that. I did however kind of want to stay away from rails due to the bulk they add. Does anyone have any other ideas how I might accomplish this? If not does anyone know of any really really low profile rail mounts? I've seen some of the Zacuto website where the rails seem to basically just come out of the front of a plate but they're all designed for specific cameras.

Thanks.

Opteka makes a square-shaped rig with rails that seems like what you describe. it's about $90. It's fairly heavy, and the camera platform will sag/rotate with heavier cameras - I had to use pieces of tape to keep those points tight.

"it is what it is" as far as fig rig type stuff goes... they're very hard to get steady shots with but better than nothing. The frame is 15mm rods, so you can attach all kinds of stuff. It comes with a couple 90-degree rod clamps.

Dheorl: Yeah, it is a shoulder rig. Made by Fotodiox. I guess you're looking for more of a fig rig. Sorry.
