Hello

my 1st video monitor have just arrived! I stopped my choice on Small HD at first mainly because of design - i really like the way it looks, its slim, i believe its light, but also i the size u got is 8.9` and its bigger than competitors have or may coast!

the 8.9` model is no longer available so of course i got it used, but in very good condition. no sdi here, only hdmi.

I would like to hear your comments regarding that model, maybe some advices, advices on presents in menus, and anything else u may think off

regards

i have the dp1x and love it. love the size compared to the dp6 or smaller 4" version. i purchased mine used as well and it was in perfect condition. i've used it for almost a year now and have nothing but great things to say about it. i'm careful about the hdmi and have a 90 degree adapter that rotates easily in either direction so it hasn't been a problem. i've been told by small HD that they will be releasing a new similar sized version with sdi in the new year. Most likely that will be my next on-camera monitor. Till then, the dp1x is working like a charm.

regards.

how do u update your soft? i have noticed that the soft they have in tutorials is much better than i have........... i have software: version smallhd - V5.6.5 @

love this monitor, had good use out of it when shooting A Strange Confession.

I wish small HD would bring this size back into their product line

They WILL be introducing a NEW larger size monitor similar to the dp1x in 2012. I heard it directly from smallHD.

Patience grasshopper.

swivel adapter. I use it with 2ft hdmi cable that has enough slack on it to prevent stress on the camera connector. mount the monitor on top of the camera with a mini tripod ball head. works flawlessly. also have an articulating arm if necessary, but find i have more trouble with camera movement and stability with it mounted in that configuration. on top of the camera works best for my situation.

visit the smallHD website. they have tutorials and instructions on all that.

i have searched it yesterday the whole night , but i did not find it there, could u plz provide a link to the place where is that update info located........, but also there is no usb in my dp1x, so i am not sure if update is possible at all..... as i am just not sure how it can be done...

regards

if you don't have an hdmi output jack, then i don't believe you have an dp1x. pretty sure it's standard. i think the dp1's did also. you should contact them directly and give them your serial number and they can help you out. they are very quick at responding. very good customer service.

i dont understand who told u that i dont have HDMI? i never told that! i do have HDMI! and also its written at the back of my unit - DP1X. what i dont have is - USB! so i dont know how it can be possible to update the internal filmware. Or you want to tell that i can update the filmware via hdmi ? but i never heard its possible at all!?!?

the page you gave me - there is no a single word about the filmware update! there is info about how to make a DP1X out of DP1, and info about what features dp1x has....

I guess i misread your email i thought i read that you said you didn't have HDMI my mistake. You're assuming that you can update the software via USB. The website link i sent you clearly states that when upgrading from DP1 to DP1x you have to send the monitor to them and they get it back to you in a week. I'm sure the same applies if you have an earlier firmware version in your dp1x.

Using a ton of exclamation points when you email won't get you a friendly response when YOU ARE ASKING FOR HELP! Like i stated in my earlier email...they have excellent costumer service and usually respond to emails within a day.

So get off your lazy butt and email or call them and ask for help.

i have sent them email on friday, but its sunday now, so maybe monday....

English is not my 1st language, so i am sorry if u found me rude some how!

now i understood what u tried to tell - in order to update the firmware to a newer version i still have to send monitor to them, even if i have DP1x already......, when u asked about hdmi i decided that its possible to use it for update some how.

It`s clearly visible that in their tutorials they use a newer software version then i have, probably my monitor was updated to dp1x before that new soft came out., its a pity as paying 250usd(international) just for software update is kind of too much

btw i did not find any kind of focus assist or anything , do u know if that monitor provides any? my mistake i never asked about it before i bought it, so now its seems like a bad surprise, but from other hand its so big maybe i dont need any assists...

Not knowing what your monitor can and can't do since i'm not familiar with your firmware version, i can tell you the latest firmware version has 1:1 pixel view. you can switch to that mode to make sure you're focus is sharp. that and the focus assist already in the AF100 should give you excellent focus. if you got a good deal on your dp1x then it's worth the money just to have the 1:1 view on that size of monitor.

hope it all works out. good luck.
