FS7: small FS& IBC

Visited IBC, lots of people, lots of gear.
- Sony new small camera FS5, see picture 9-10-11-12 brother fs7, 4K, SD card, same form as fs7 limited codec. But nice grip and vf-holder (can rotate)
- FS7 No luts in custom (not enough processing capacity), advice from sony to buy third party viewfinder with build in LUts.
- firmwar 3.0 to be released in 2015 see pictures
- New version catalyst prepare, nice and clean, also catalyst edit, available in oktobe 399 dollar for the two. I liked the look of it.
- Atomos Assasin, not realy looked at but 4K etc.

The thing I liked most was the sony catalyst edit beta suite. So nice and clean.

Lot of people selling rigs/carbage there :-)

The thing I liked on the fs5 was the grip that can be mounted direct to the camera and the more flexible vf-holder.
 
NR in Cine-EI mode though for FW3.0 on the FS7.

I wonder if it's any good.

I'm sure I'll test once and never use again, but still it's moving the cam forward I guess.
 
And perhaps better timelapse mode. Nice.

But a bit skimped firmware. Wheres the bug fixes for some seriously crippling bugs in this camera?

I'm sure they'll be there- but it' nothing to put on a paper as a"feature". Excited about that NR and interval recording :) Ben, I guess it will be same as in F5/55. Have you had a chance to check it?
 
Does anyone know what's in firmware 3.0? Does Sony respond to requests or is it a case of get what you're given and be thankful?

It seems strange that the FS5 effectively gets SGamut3.cine in Custom mode and the FS7 wouldn't.
 
Nobody show Basspig that Adobe banner proclaiming the ability to edit 4K XAVC, FFS!

No "official" announcement from Sony yet that I've seen... so maybe this is a first peak.
I think this is totally Sony's plan... to keep camera's ever-so-slightly differentiated (whether you agree or not is a whole other topic) and then eventually roll out new fw that slowly brings "new" features that sort of bridge the gap (but not totally close it). Odd how the 3.0 doesn't mention the sensor crop... hopefully because they have already "officially" announced it

Yeah, i figured as much myself right after posting. But i guess as an owner, im more concerned about operating rather than deciding to buy or not based on the features. :-)
