SLR Magic anamorphot with FS700 vignetting

So I recently purchased the SLR Magic anamorphot adapter to shoot anamorphic. I love it however I can currently only use it with one lens. My 50mm. I tried it out with my 28mm and it has horrible vignetting, looks like im filming through a peep hole. So I'm trying to understand this (forgive me I'm rather new to this).

On their website they state: "Suitable lenses are those of normal focal length on Full frame, APS-C and MFT format cameras, generally thought prime lenses with focal length of between 20mm and 100mm and with the front element with a maximum diameter of less then 50mm."

From what I understand the fs700 has a crop sensor so this makes even less sense to me. There should be even less vignetting than normal. All my lenses are Nikkor ai-s lenses with 52mm thread size (2mm more than is suggested by SLR magic) I am using a metabones speedbooster on my camera as well, would this affect the vignetting?

Any way, I am planning on selling my 28mm nikkor lens and getting the 35mm (52mm thread size) in hopes that there will be no vignetting. If anyone can tell me whether or not I will still experience vignetting with this lens before I purchase it it would be much appreciated! (:

With the SLR Magic, for sure it'll vignette at that focal length and speedbooster. You'll be able to get away with 50mm and speedbooster. And using a standard adapter (no speedbooster) the 35mm may still vignette. I think it was around 37mm that was safe which is a Russian Mir1 lens.

Damn... That's a little disappointing. So I only have 1 lens I can shoot anamorphic with haha...
I fell in love with anamorphic footage the past year so I've been trying to find a way to shoot it with out spending insane amounts of money on lenses. I started off with the Letus AnamorphX, used it for a few shoots and it produced nice footage but so big and bulky, very difficult to shoot with. And I couldn't use it with a stabilizer, only tripod and shoulder rig shots.
I suppose I will try getting an adapter for just the 35mm lens to NEX camera and hopefully it doesn't vignette. Let me know if you have any alternative ideas!

I haven't tried it personally but believe you can look into 40mm pancake lens alternatives along with your speedbooster. I've been satisfied with my 50mm, although I'd like wider as well but make do. The letus is a bulky piece, but gives you the ability to go wide on it fairly easily.

Thanks for the suggestion. I don't quite understand what you mean though, does it matter whether or not it's a pancake lens?

I ended up buying the 35mm lens and just tested it out... it vignettes hahahaha. My dreams of shooting anamorphic are dying! The technology just isn't there yet I suppose. It doesn't vignette as bad as the 28mm lens, you can see in the image below a test shot. This is still with the speedbooser on though, judging from the screenshot does anyone think I could get rid of the vignette if I just get a cheap adapter to go from nikon lens to sony mount? This might be useable for some shots. But does anyone have any suggestions of how I could correct this in post or anything? What are my options?

From the SLR Magic Anamorphot manual:

Suggested taking lens based on sensor size:
17-85mm focal length can be used for S16 sensor.
20-85mm focal length can be used for mFT sensor.
35-85mm focal length can be used for S35 and APS-C sensor.
40-85mm focal length can be used for Full Frame sensor.

Using a speedbooster means you shouldn't be looking at less than 40mm. It's no surprise you're getting vignetting at 35. Simple solution would be using a non-speedbooster adapter or finding a 40mm lens.

Thanks for the input. If I purchase this adapter do you think it will work? http://www.amazon.com/Nikon-E-Mount...48493392&sr=8-1&keywords=nikon+to+nex+adapter

It looks fairly big, as big if not more than the speedbooster. But I'm not sure if it's the size of the adapters or the glass in the speedbooster that would be causing the vignetting.
