SLR Magic 12mm 1.6 or Olympus 12mm 2 ???

you know I saw that! I wrote them and told them that it's $479 (though not available currently) at Adorama and I paid $499 and asked if they would match it. No word yet.

Yeah I just figured adorama would have it just as fast as me on the waiting list so I went with the cheaper. The wait, however, has got me questioning if I should get the Oly. Also, SLR Magic said something about customs payment or something like that. Not sure how much that would be, either.

The 'customs payments' seems to be a standard statement by vendors from Hong Kong. I've yet to pay any additional fees when ordering from Hong Kong. I've used 3 vendors from there.

Quick followup: I got an email from SLRMagic concerning the disparity in price between them and Adorama ($20) and they said it had to do with bulk shipping creating a better deal for Adorama. Makes sense. They offered to cancel my order with a full refund if I wanted to go to Adorama for it. I'm going to continue with my order with them.

Ended up staying with the SLR Magic and it just arrived. I can't wait to play with it, now. Looks really nice, super solid

Just used it for a couple interviews yesterday and I am very happy with the results. I would suggest a hood. I plan on fashioning one on there. The AF100's ND filters help to cut the flare down a lot while still keeping the shallowness of f1.6-2 but there was still the slightest bit left.

I was sold on the Oly until I saw you pull focus and the way it stepped from one point to another - now I'm just as confused as I was before.

The Olympus 12mm has two options for manual focusing. Kanauru used the type that seems preferable, but doesn't work well with motion cameras, which is easy to do, as it's hard to see the stepping in-camera.

The Olympus is a sweet little lens, & sharp wide-open, but it's so small I only use it on the GH2.

Yes, once I found out that there is a smooth manual focus on the Olympus I jumped straight in - and I'm loving it.

It does look silly on a fully rigged AF-102 but I don't mind looking daft if the shots are good. More importantly, my clients are liking the images as well.
