Hi folks...
i cracking my mind to figure out how to take 60P out from F3 with kipromini to shoot slowmotion...

everything i tryed did not work.

i did set the camera to 1280/60p , so the camera is feeding the kipromini, and record type as PsF ,
so the kipromini statutus is like this

1080i 29.97
1080PsF 29,97

and the file is coming with fields...and i dont no what to do anymore...

Under/overcranking is not supported out SDI. Only the NanoFlash will allow under/overcranking and timelapse. None of the other outboard recorders yet support it.

Yes you can't go S and Q mode on the Sony F3 to my knowledge and get a feed into the Ki Pro Mini.

However you can switch over to at 720p 60p and then in cinema tools if you're using a mac -conform to 23.94 for slow motion. the source file is 59.94 progressive. make sure you're feeding it "P" not "I." I've made that mistake a few times. and to me its fine slow motion.

The PMW-F3 outputs a maximum of 720 60p or 1080 30p over the default SDI port to the right of the battery slot. The PMW-F3 supports a maximum of 1080 60p (59.94) over the dual link (or 3G) HD-SDI ports.

Let's keep in mind that overcranking means recording a number of frames for playback slower than they were recorded - for instance, recording 60 frames per second, and playing them back at 24 frames per second, turning one second of recorded time into 2.5 seconds of playback time - slow motion. Undercranking is the reverse, resulting in faster than realtime motion, or timelapse. The PMW-F3 has the Slow & Quick (S&Q), and Interval recording modes to handle over and undercranking internally in XDCAM-EX. The maximum overcrank permitted for S&Q is 60p at 720 or 30p at 1080. The S&Q settings cannot intelligently be communicated to any external recording device.

The Ki Pro Mini records at a maximum of 720 60p or 1080 30p. The hardware simply does not support faster rates. Nor does the Ki Pro Mini offer any overcranking options. However, one may record on the Ki Pro Mini at 720 60p, and conform it in post to play back at 24p or 30p.

The Ki Pro Mini doesn't have undercrank support either, but you can record at the project's primary frame rate, and remove the excess frames in post automatically by changing the playback speed of the clip.

To overcrank 60p at 1080 you need a higher end recorder, and you'll still need to do the conforming process, as none of the external recorder options will do the frame removal for you.

1080 60p external recorders include the Cinedeck Extreme, the Convergent Designs Gemini, and Sony's SW-R1... these are all far more expensive products than the Ki Pro Mini.

There are some Blackmagic Design and AJA PCI express cards and Thunderbolt & USB 3.0 external devices for computers that will allow you to record 1080 60p directly to a computer - and the cards start as low as about $600 for desktop, $1000 for laptops.

Ok misterviddovation, bla bla bla , thanks but i know this "recordes " in my mind.
eddavid, i teyed all the possibilitiea of
configuration over the kipromini and the beat result was a footage with pulldown.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "recordes."

As for "bla bla bla" I apologize for my lack of brevity, but I was trying to cover the available options.

The fact is, between the numerous outputs and menu configuration settings of the PMW-F3, and the settings and processing options on the Ki Pro Mini, there's more than one way to skin this cat - particularly when you're query is fairly vague.

To record 720 60p progressively on the Ki Pro Mini, do the following:

*Set the PMW-F3 mode to XDCAM-EX 720 60p (59.94). DO NOT USE SLOW & QUICK.
*Make sure Video output is set to "HD-SDI and HDMI"
*Wire using SDI, from the SDI port on the right side (not the dual link ports) to the Ki Pro Mini.
*The Ki Pro Mini should automatically recognize the signal as 720 60p. Ensure that it is not doing any further processing - we want to record at 720 60p.
*In post, use Cinema Tools to conform the files to 23.98p.

You should have no pulldown.

Or in Premiere, just interpret the clips as 30P (or 25P for 720 50P slomo for example) in the properties menu.

I find this forum to be extremely educational and I very much enjoy reading through it! Thank you Viddovation for your explanation on over cranking with the Ki Pro Mini. There was a time before Internet when people would have killed to get technical information on cameras, film emulsion and lenses. Today it is simply a click away. Folks shouldn't take this type of information for granted but they should be thankful it is here.

sorry if i looked like stupid viddovation ,

Wire using SDI, from the SDI port on the right side (not the dual link ports) to the Ki Pro Mini.

so , i cant record 60p 10bits 422 , thank you...
