Slowmo test

Re: Slowmo test

nice shot...great look to it.

something seems wierd about it though...why is there any interlacing at all? can editing software actualy convert 60i to 24 fps acuratly? i was under the impression you needed something like realsmart fields kit or something like twixtor to extract the fields and create the line doubling for whole frames....

Re: Slowmo test

hey disjecta, can u upload a non-sorenson squeezed version of the 60i 29.97 .9 pixel ratio shot? in its dv formatt?

id like to mess with it in twixtor if thats ok...if not no worries man.

Re: Slowmo test

Very nice Dr Doolittle....You've got to fill us in on your goose training regime. Nice work. When I first got my cam, I did some slomo stuff that was perfect, never wrote the settings down and now I can't duplicate it :'(....Beginners luck :)

Re: Slowmo test

Disjecta - You have geese flying on cue? OK, now I'm convinced all these animals are trained. You have them under your control and Pinelake is just a cover for your animal park or circus. ;) Seriously, that was some good slo-mo. Beautiful shot too! Not to mention, the file size was perfect for us bandwidth challenged. (Why is the saying, "Not to mention" always followed by something mentioned?)

Re: Slowmo test

So Rich made it look better using the following method:

This is with reelsmart fields kit. i had it seperate out the upper and lower fields and create individual frames with each one...getting double the amount of frames. then, renderd that out, and brought it into AE and interpreted it at 24fps and brought it into a 24fps timeline.

again, sorenson squeeze is retarded when it comes to dealing with .9 pixel aspect ratio footage. it tries its best to uprez to square, but it always fails, your previous video and this goose one is a prime example of how it just cant deal with it. i have goten in the habbit of squaring up my footage (720x540) in AE before i send to sorenson squeeze.

Thanks Rich.

Shaw, no uprezzing here.

Re: Slowmo test

I since fixed it so the one in the top post was based on a suggestion to use FieldsKit from Rich....so yes, the best one is at the first post right now :D

Re: Slowmo test

The new adjusted clip looks great! How much is Reelsmart FieldsKit? Does it just do slo-mo? ... Why don't I just look it up for myself  :P

Looks good.  8)

Re: Slowmo test

The new clip is perfection. I'm in awe and disbelief. Voodoo or witchcraft must be behind this.

I seriously doubt it :P

Re: Slowmo test

Try this, it will blow you away.

If you shoot 60i and then put it into after effects and put in time strech at 200% and then right click on the clip in the project box and go to Interpret footage and make sure that the field order is set to lower field first, then make sure that the little blockey backslash on the timeline is changed to a smoth foward slash.
output this file and put it into your editing program along with your normal 24p footage and you will be surprised not only how beautifull the slowmo footage looks, bit how well it cuts in with the other footage.
Esentualy you are turning the indevidual fields into indevidual frames. (just like deinterlacing)
After you put it back into your NLE, sometimes you have to use the "remove flicker" setting. It helps smoth things out.

I hope this helps.

Be sure to check out the trailer for "Loaded Dice" at www.horrornewsnetwork.com/newtrailer.mov
