Slowly change in brightness possible?

As an FS700 shooter, I frequently encounter situations when the brightness of the scene changes during shooting. To increase or decrease the sensitivity, I just use the high / medium / low gain buttons on the camera. However, the brightness of the picture would change abruptly and that is very disturbing to the people who are watching on the screen. Especially during broadcast, sudden change in brightness of the picture would give a strong impression of non-professionalism.

Is there a way to make the brightness of the screen change very slowly, just similar to the speed of a slow fade-in or fade-out ?

Thanks in advance for your help and insight.

Use an E-mount lens with smooth aperture control, or use auto-gain. It sounds kind of crazy to imaging auto-gain might look professional, but used correctly in certain situations it can be extremely useful. Just make sure you set your AE-shift setting accordingly and dont expect magic.

Thanks a lot!
Does that mean there is no manual adjustment to change the brightness slowly? Using auto-gain is not always a good idea, especially in complicated lighting conditions such as live concert where very bright and very dark objects coexist in the center of the screen. I wonder how people change the brightness slowly during live broadcast. Maybe F55 / F65 can do that, and this FS700 is not quite capable for live broadcast?

I know the NX5 and probably a few other cams had a smooth gain setting where when you switch the gain, it transitions gradually over a couple of seconds.

I don't think the FS700 has this feature, unfortunately.

Sorry if I wasn't clear. My understanding is the smooth iris works on all native E-mount lenses but all of them are focus by wire which is it's own problem. The only exception I think is the new 28-135 FE Cinema Zoom which has a smooth iris and the focus ring can be in servo or full manual focus mode (but the zoom is servo-only). Alternatively you could use the manual method of using a Cinema or de-clicked manual lens with a smooth aperture ring, or you could use a variable ND which will change exposure smoothly as you turn it (though there can be changes in the polarization as well which could show up in certain situations).

What kind of lens are you using now? The 18-200 kit zoom lens, for example, does allow you to change aperture smoothly, so the FS700 is certainly capable of it.

I am using SELP18105G lens (18-105mm power zoom). I wonder if there is a way to make the smooth iris slowly close to minimum just like a slow fade-out.
