Has anyone had good results slowing down progressive footage that is not shot 720p60? I want to shoot a project in 1080p30 but I've have terrible results when I try and slow it down or do any kind of ramped slow motion. I don't want to shoot 1080i, but it seems like thats the only way I'm going to be able to slow anything down and not have it look terrible. If anyone has an ideas on how to make slow down progressive footage thats not shot 720p60, please help. Thanks.

Okay so I've decided how I'm going to film the shoot I'm working on this week. The client wants the final project in 1080 so here goes...

Main camera will be HPX170, I'll be shooting in 1080/60i so I can slow the clips down without getting the Jittery/Not so smooth slow mo results I would normally get when shooting in 1080/30p. For the most part all the "action" shots will be shot with this camera setup.

I'll also be shooting timelapse, lifestyle, and second angles with a Canon 7d, in 1080p mode.

I plan to edit the footage in a 1080p timeline, and I've done a few tests and everything seems to go smooth. I shot 1080i stuff, slowed it down in AE, brought in into FCP 1080P timeline and it still looks smooth. Aparently I loose some resolution editing it this method, but it's really hard to tell when looking at the footage, especially when its compressed down for the web. I've also combined both 1080p and 1080i footage from the HPX in a 1080p timeline and it seems to work out.

The only problem is, I won't have the 7d in my posession until the day before the shoot so I won't be able to test combining 1080p footage from the 7d with 1080i footage from the hpx on a 1080p timeline until I've already shot some stuff.

So If anyone could give me some tips on issues I may run into when combining this footage (if there are any) that would be a big help. And if anyone thinks there is a better method I'm open to suggestions, but from the tests I've done and the info I've gathered this method seems like it will give me good results.

Thanks for any feedback you might have.
