slower shutter speeds and the intervalometer function together?

I'm not quite sure if this is what you're asking, but I understand the intervalometer settings can be used to record frame rates lower than 12 fps. For example, if the ONE-SHOT TIME is set to 1F (one frame), the INTERVAL TIME would alllow you to shoot at these frame rates (assuming 24fps playback):

2F = 12 fps
4F = 6 fps
8F = 3 fps
16F = 1.5 fps

What I'm not certain about is how the shutter speed fits into this. It may be a 180 degree shutter still only captures 1/48 of a second, even if you are shooting at 3 fps (for example).

Barry may know more from his testing.

Also does the slow shutters speeds give us a possible simulated lower frame rate in 1080/24p!
Yes, this part is already in The HVX Book. You can get nine different frame rates in 1080p: 1, 2, 4, 8, 12, 15, 24, 30, and 60i.

Thanks to the both of you for the answers.

As neopics mentions, what about the shutter speed. Can I get a very slower shutter speed to obtain a longer exposer with more motion blur in those frames or am I locked into 1/48th and 1/24th?

Do we even have a 1/4-1/8 and etc slower shutter speed options?

Off topic but some one please answer my stupid question: can you edit footage shot with no timecode on fcp? Thanks.

You highjacked my thread. Ahhhhhhhhhh.... Blasted.

My friend says yes you can! However you would have no way to batch capture to the original source. However you might not need that.

Now this thread can return to its original bat channel and bat time................

The only slow-shutter speed is 1/15. So no, no super-slow shutters. You can get 1/12 by shooting 12fps at a 350-degree shutter, but that's as slow as it goes.

I think thtat an intervalometer could be done with a palm for the HV20 or similar camcorder, because the palm already have a IR port that sends and receives, it is a matter of investigate whether there are an application that do that. Anyone know one?

That was it, really need to give it a try..

btw Barry, just ordered your book, cant wait for it to arrive from DVXuser. Hopefully we'll see you back down here at some point or another, i really enjoyed that seminar last year.
