How does slow motion work with the DVX? I've looked through alot of past posts, and haven't seen anything on the topic. Can smooth slow motion be achieved? What's the Dvx's highest frame rate?
You'll have to do this in post. You can't do slow motion "in camera". Unless you are talking about time lapse?
Try looking in the thread for your specific editing system. This thread is for posting clips and screen grabs.

But, in NTSC, the DVX can record either 24P, 30P, or 60i. You can get good slow motion from converting 60i to 60P (through de-interlacing however, losinghalf your resolution) but then you can slow it down to 24P, and have the effect of having shot in 60 frames per second.
You can also shoot in 30P and slow it down for a subtle slow motion effect, and it would be "perfect" because it's still progressive.
I have heard of a program called "Boris Continuum". It is supposed to take your video and make it smooth slow motion without you having to capture it a specific way. I have never used it, but has anyone used it? I would like to see a sample of how well this works.
I do it in post with adobe premier. You can change the rate to around 50 - 70% depending on the look you need to acheive. I've got an example on my site if you want to take a look @ http://www.fckvwls.com/captures.html
I have found that in FCP HD I can slow it down with the speed adjustment. (ctrl + J ) I usually don't go any slower than 55%. If I do I use a shot with no fast movement. Also setting your shutter speed to something a little high, like 1/150 will help a great deal. When I do want to go lower than 55%, I add the motion blur effect from Joe's Filters. I then tweak it to a low enough setting to lose the choppiness but retain as much sharpness in the picture as possible. This works pretty good. Lots of trial and error to figure this out. Hope it helps.
