Slow Motion

What is the best way to shoot slow motion? I already know to shoot 60i.... but my question is at what shutter speed? There will be extremely minimal action in the shot so I was wondering if it would be okay to shoot at 1/4 sec. shutter speed...

anyways, help me out, i need to know by friday, haha.

thanks!

Barry's book suggests to shoot at 1/100 but as the DVX doesn't have such shutter speed I have shot slow motion at 1/120.

from my experience the higher the shutter speed makes the better slow motion i shoot 1/500 sometimes with water and it looks soo fluid.

60i at 1/120 shutter speed. For frame to frame slow motion, you have to slow down by 40%. Anything different will have some blur...

okay great! thanks for the help... last question...i still import to fc at 29.97, correct?

oh and why 1/120 shutter speed?

The higher shutter speed will give you crisper frames (less motion blur).
The motion blur you get at 1/48 or 1/60 is part of the reason slowmo doens't look very convincing a lot of the time.

Shooting 60i at 1/120 shutter speed will give your frames closer to the same amount of motion blur that you would normally see if you were shooting 60fps with a film camera.
