slow motion

im wonderin, have any of you ever noticed how you can grab the play head in final cut pro and run the footage by hand, or use the arrow keys to run the footage frame by frame at any speed you want? you get absolutely perfect slow motion by doing this. so if you can view 24p footage slowly and perfectly like this then why is it that you cant get perfect slow motion in a finished product? does any one know of a way to use this method of getting slow motion? i guess that you would have to somehow get the clip to play the frames not at 24 fps, but at a slower pace. is this possible.

the only way you would be able to do this is if you have a sequence with a timeline of something like 12fps and all of your other footage would appear at 12fps and the 24fps video would appear in slow motion but it wouldnt really for really good slow motion your best bet is shooting those parts at 60i if you notice that there is lots of ghosting on your finished product i found that if you print it to video the slow motion looks as smooth as 60p here is a link to making really good and smooth slow motion in a 24p timeline
