Slow Motion Sync Music Video

Hey guys,

I hope some pro audio users can help me out here.

I shot a music video were the artist wanted it all shot in slow motion and at the same time have his lips in sync. I sped up the audio by 250% (we shot in 60p) and played it on set.

However, the artist couldn't keep up with the audio. So we shot in regular 60p and he lip synced to the song at normal speed.

Now, is there any way that I can sync the audio, with out having it sound distorted in post, and sync it to the footage.

Thanks,

?? You shot in real time so it should be in sync.

As a FYI you can not slow down the image and not slow down the sound and still stay in sync. You can cheat a small amount with some software but a SMALL amount.

In order to do what you're wanting to do, the music must be sped up for playback during production by the inverse percentage of motion reduction you want in the footage. If you shot at 60p, you should have had the music sped up to match. Obviously, that did not work for your project... and there are some songs for which this type of shot simply won't work. Since you shot 60p with normal speed playback, slowing the footage down is going to lose sync with the music.

There have been several threads on this technique in the past, and a quick search will turn them up.

Here are a couple of them:

Try shooting at 200%, shoot at 60p, then play back at 30p. If the client can't sing along then it's on them.
