hey,
so im following Barry's advice to get film-like slow motion with the dvx, and shot in 60i today. now i know im supposed to slow it down to 40% of the original speed, but how do i bring the video into avid? i tried to capture the 60i footage into my 24p (well, 23.976) timeline but it gave me an error that said "a non-drop frame tape was inserted, expected a drop frame tape" and wouldnt let me capture.
so i started a new 30i project and captured my footage into that and it worked fine, so how do i det the nice slow motion from here?
thanks!

For slow-mo in Avid:

Load your clip in the source monitor

Set in and out points for the segment you want to slow-mo

Click the Motion Effect button (looks like an italicised film frame and is probably in the lower right of the source monitor)

This opens the Motion Effect dialogue box

Now you can use the various Variable Speed options to slow down, speed up, or reverse the clip.

You will then render this out into a new media file which will appear in the bin.

oh yes i know that, but to get the film-like slow motion where you record what you want to be slow motion in 60i then reduce its speed to 40%, would you do that in the interlaced project then export it and import it as 24p in a 24p project?
