Slow Motion in 30P

I appologize if this is been discussed but I cannot find it via searching.

What is the best way to go about filming in 30P and having slow motion incorporated?

In Vegas, I use the 29.97 timeline to edit my 30P, but if I want to have smooth slow motion how would I go about doing this? I assume using the 60i and slowing down 50% isn't the correct method in this case, or am I wrong?

I would have figured that if you shoot at 60i and slow it down 50% would work... wouldn't it?

shoot 30p. capture as 29.97. edit in regular 29.97 timeline. using cinema tools 'conform' function to change footage from 30p to 23.98fps for a smoth 80% slowmow.
