Slow Motion and mono sound question

I cannot get my EX1R to shoot slow motion, and the sound from the camera is always mono. For slow motion, I set the camera (in the menu) at 1280, 60fps. I press the button on the side of the camera, the blue light comes on, and the viewfinder says slo mo, but does not show the sound being canceled (circle with a slash) as it does when I shoot in the interval setting. In FCP with a 1080/29.97 sequence, it shows as 1280 x 720/59.94, but does not play in slow motion. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?
The other question I have is how to get stereo sound tracks. The camera always records in mono, and I do not see anyway to change it from stereo to mono.
Thanks,
Bill

Yes, and watched the Vortex DVD, and another one too.

To shoot Slow Motion on the EX1R, make sure you have it set on in the camera menu under S&Q Motion to HQ 1280/30p, with the frame rate at 60. Then when shooting in HQ 1920 x 1080/30P (or 24P), all you do is press the SQ button on the top rear left (it blue light is on). On the LCD screen select Execute and press the toggle, and start filming.

Fast motion and interval video works fine. I am wondering if something is wrong with the camera, or if there is something obvious i am overlooking,

Slow Motion can only work at 720, unless the R model changed something.

Mono: If you are using FCP, the files come in as 2 mono files panned center. You need to pan the files left and right.

I just did a 60fps test with the EX3 and found a few things to know.
The camera was set at 720p. In the Pal set up at 720 it then has the option to shoot at either 25p or 50p before pushing the speed control button on the side of the camera and dialing your SQ speed back to 60fps. ( I say dial the speed back because the knob rolls backward to increase the frame rate)
When I shot with the camera at 50p 60fps the audio recorded, and when the footage was imported to CS4 on a 1080 25p time line the footage played real time, and had to be slowed down to 40%, but still had 60 individual frames so it was recording at 60fps. The audio track that recorded also slowed down 40% with a lower pitch which worked as it should with the footage.
When I shot the same test and set the camera to 25p before activating the blue speed control button and dialing the frame rate to 60fps, the footage imported onto the same 1080p time line and played in slow motion without adjusting the speed in post, but did NOT have audio recorded. This was the first time I had my hands on an EX3. I also had to go through the menu a few times to find everything, but it worked well quickly. Just keep testing it and you will find everything. It's a bullet proof little unit.
Here are a few still clips.

Thank you Rockmore. The directions seem quite clear, and I cannot see what I was doing incorrectly. Yesterday I tried selecting 720/30P, and then, with the slow motion setting at HQ 1280 x 720/60P, pressing the button on the side, and choosing Execute when that popped up in the viewfinder. Still no slow motion, although it does, as always, record at 60fps. Then I set the camera to 720/24P and tried slow motion, and...it worked! It also worked (by pressing the button on the side to activate slow motion) when the camera was set to 720/30P and 1080/30P. I have no idea what started it working, but it will forever more stay set the way it is now!
