hi. i'm on this shoot and i need to do a slow-mo time lapse with the 100a. i'm wondering if its possible to do this in 24pa. if not, in any progressive mode. if yes, how? i've been trying but i keep getting this invalid message.

thanks. sorry if this is on here somewhere. i'd wade thru but am on time constraints.

Re: slow-mo time lapse

I'm kinda confused, because slo-motion and time-lapse are kind of the exact opposite. Do you need footage that takes place over a long period of time to play quickly, or do you need footage happening quickly to play slowly?

Oh, okay  :)

The longer the shutter is open for, the more motion blur, and therefore, the more smooth fast-motion footage.

You can go to your synchro-scan function under "camera settings" and crank it as low as it can go.  I'm not sure how low the "a" goes, with the 100, as far as I know you can go down to 1/24 in 24P - with the "a" I think you may even be able to go as low as 1/12.

Once the footage is shot with the slower shutter speed, you essentially have doubled frames, at longer exposures - each frame being held for longer than it needs to.  If you cut out every unneccesary frame, being any frame that's shown more than once - you can get perfectly fluid fast-motion.

Now, you may have an issue with this not being fast enough - but there isn't much anything you can do about that. You can't do single-frame exposures over several seconds, unfortunately...
