Slow-mo test + more

Alright this weekend I did a quick slow motion test and then also made another random video, just testing out the camera.

slow motion was taken at 60i into a 24p timeline in vegas, and slowed to 40%, with a 1/120 shutter speed.

looks smooth. What did you use for lighting?

and what are you specs for the second video?

It looks great!

Thanks!

For the first video I just had the window open and then that lamp that you see in one of the shots. I didn't do too much magic bullet to that one, but I added a vignette to both.

And which specs are you talking about? It was 24p at normal shutter and for lighting on that I had the window of course, and then two house lamps about three feet from my back on my bed / table. I haven't gotten any professinal lights, but i'm planning on buying one from my friend for $85

because 60i is actually recording 60 different moments in time and creating one frame from those fields as opposed to a progressive frame in 30p which only records the 30 moments in time. if you shoot in 60i, deinterlace the footage so that each field (moment in time) is its own frame you'll get 50% speed at 30fps progressive, if you then slow that down to 80% you'll get even slower motion at 24fps, I think.

Ummm... yeah... it looks OK. I see some nasty interlacing artifacts, though. Next time (or this time, if you want to redo it), make sure to de-interlace the footage before dropping it into your 24 timeline. That'll give you the best of both worlds (non interlaced footage, and 60 fps for the slo mo)

I'll probably have to ask in the Premiere forums, but for the life of me, I can not figure out how to do smooth slow-motion in Adobe Premiere 1.5. It's extremely frustrating.

If anyone would like to help me out, PM me, post here, whatever, that would be a big help..
