Slomo freezes after 7 seconds?

shot two 10-sec 720/60p clips, captured into FCP 5.1, changed speed to 50% and rendered.
they play beautifully, but the image freezes at 7s18f on one and 9s00f on the other. the sound, though, keeps going.

I searched this forum for slomo and only got one post about the direct-to-hard drive.

Is this how you get progressive slomo anyway, record in 720 60p and change speed in FCP?

Usually when I slomo, I shoot in 60p and bring that clip into a 30p timeline to slow it down... But it should work by slowing down the clip as well... I'm sure others will chime in...
