Hey guys and gals.

Question,

Setting up a cinedeck for some quick test shots tomorrow on an f3 with the slog upgrade.

Curious if anyone could give me a quick run down on a few things.

Prim going to feed the cinedeck with a bnc off of the f3s hd sdi ( a/b ) output to get the 444 signal, correct ? Out of the sdi I only get 422 correct ? Also. Will the 444 files be playable with QuickTime ? Manual says they are mov files. So I assume they will play in QuickTime ?

Should I just opt for prores 444 instead ?

Also. Can someone give me a rn down of the in camera settings to make sure I'm getting the right uncompressed 444 feed ?

Thanks !

As Ned said,

either 3G SDI out of the camera ("A"), to the "A" port of the cinedeck, or Dual Link A/B out of the camera, to the same of the cinedeck.

The cinedeck is very easy and straight forward to setup.

Up to you whether you want prores or cineform from the cinedeck, I have been doing alot of cineform, and it is fan-tas-tic.

Thanks guys. Am I able to setup the cinedeck to record s log 444 out if the dual link sdi out but have a LUT applied to the sdi out for the viewing monitor ?

Yes, you can have a lut on the main SDI spigot for viewing. On the Cinedeck you will get a green light when you have the right set up for any of the codecs using dual link when a and b are connected to the cinedeck. We left the s-log on the Cinedeck so we could see it without a lut on the monitor. Gave us proper readings on the waveform, and sent the Rec 709 Lut to director, on the main sdi spigot for viewing when I used it. I also had a monitor on the camera with the lut so you could see what it could look like.
