Slider for dvx200

I use The Matthews DC slider with the DVX200 and many other cameras. I bought this particular unit a few years back because I needed a slider that worked with many different cameras. If you have some money to spend its a great device! It can slide horizontally and slide at many different angles. It can even go straight up and down to do a vertical boom. With the addition of an included arm it turns into a jib as well. I also purchased the motion control unit for it which makes it even more useful for time lapse etc... Check it out.

I hear you about the price. It took me about six months of shoots just to pay for the thing, but its built like a tank and its 4 tools in one so it was a great tool for me.

I have the previous version of the Varavon Slidecam EX Plus 1000. It works great with my D800 fully rigged. I haven't put the DVX200 on it yet but I suspect the weight of the D800 with all of its accessories is heavier than the DVX200. It comes with its own legs but most of the time I'm using it spanned across two Manfrotto tripods.

Here is a example of me shooting with it and the D800. This was actually my first shoot with it so a couple of times you'll see some slight jittering but it's me and not the slider. It takes a little practice to get a slider to move at a nice even speed.

i built my own for about $20 in home depot supplies. no motorized possibilities or anything. but if you are looking for really solid, compound slider moves, on the cheap. its hard to beat.
anyone with moderate DIY skills should be able to knock it out in an afternoon.

This is a very different direction but I have been really getting good use out of this ->http://www.moveyourcamera.com/ bought the nicer unit and have several different set ups on the cheep. My camera is 5lbs (HPX170) and it works really well with Schedule 40 plumbing. I normally drive a Ford Focus Hatchback and I can lay 4' tubes I have linked together with said connection. The tubes weigh in at like 1lb and the carrage at probably 4. Whole set up is about $200

I also have and use this, Very compact I just purchase a 4x4 white vynal fence post, like you get at HDepot or Lowes, Works very well, especially with heavier cameras.
