SL-VBG50 vs. SSL-VBG50 batteries by IDX

The first one is apparently non-secure, the second has secure interface. The first one is said to work with 100, 170 and 200. The second one is said to work with 150 and 70.

Question: will the non-secure version work with either 150 or 40? What one would lose? No remaining charge time in minutes? Will it at least display "low battery" warning?

the 100/170/200 all use the same battery, while the avccam's use a different one with the "secure" chip inside, they aren't interchangeable.

From what i've gathered, the IDX works fine, but won't display the battery life in minutes. Using other, non-smart batteries, the camcorder will display an error on powerup and won't work at all. (and i think they are physically different/won't fit on the other camera)

KnoxHotch, thanks. I appreciate the answer. So you are saying that it should be possible to use non-secure IDX battery on either the 150 or the 40, though without battery life reporting. Will the camera at least display that the battery is about to fully discharge?
