Skin tones on the af100

The more I shoot, the more I realize preset 3200 and 5600K are your friends. Nice compositions, David. I take it you're loving the CP.2s?

Does the GH2 have the 3200 and 5600 K settings too? I'm wondering if you use these, how to match a GH2 B Cam.

Here's a grab from a subsequent shoot lit with tungsten at 3200º preset.

David, what were your settings shooting EJ at 3.2k preset?
With which Canon/adapter?

And have you noticed any tendencies shooting daylight vs tungsten lighting?
Thanks, looks great!

But did you use the Eltonlike_J matrix?

Nice skin tone will be less about settings and more about shaping/choosing light. Shooter showed this with his tests as he had nice tone across all different settings.

Recently saw a 5d comparison (that seems to be well done) that shows nice lighting/skin tone:

However, for whatever reason the "window" for nice skin tone seems to be smaller compared to Canons dslrs... Just something I've noticed and is why people love that canons so much.

Would be interested if EJ was shot with skin tone detail on

I shoot with Skin Detail OFF. I also frequently fiddle with my camera settings depending on the shooting conditions, but usually stick to Gamma HD Norm2.
My Canon adapter is some cheapie off e-bay. Can't speak of any particular camera behavior for daylight vs. tungsten, I just use presets as a baseline for how my lights or mixed light will record.

5d full frame makes her face looks huge
this is why some love the 5d's full frame. its not just the field of view

Very nice tone on my plasma anyway. My very exclusive combination of strictly pro gear:

Key Light - Thermonuclear, set several million miles away
Diffusion - 150,000 feet of atmosphere, set at an angle, late day
Crew - One. Me.
Lens - The rare and very hard to find Nikon 24/2.8, built probably when I was about 8 years old. I think I paid $70 for it used at local camera shop.
Camera - Af100, non cine gamma, detail, V detail @ -2, -3. Hand-held.
Backround - darker than foreground=decent looking results. Go figure.

One more thought. Everyone seems to want RED or 35mm for the price of an HVX, but have you ever looked at this "high-end" footage as it comes out of the camera, raw? It's not all that pretty. This stuff needs to be graded. I have to acknowledge that my shoot was using my Nanoflash at 180mb/s.

I haven't seen too many problems with skin tones as long as you dont overexpose the highlights. My skin tones usually seem to end up a tad +Green, but easily fixed in post.

Hey just kinda curious as to how this was lit. What kind of lights were utilized in this production? I love the practical light creating a splash on the wall. This is great!

This is what i shot... i had no time to do any special setup on the camera.. i used the camera for the first time in my life.. i am not a DP.... but still looks good... at least it doesn't look bad... the camera and lens work great...

Unfortunately I'm not very good at whipping up diagrams on the computer, but I'll just say everything's the same color temp, and the wall splash is not practical.

I too have been having a lot of problems with my skin tones. I am going to have to mess with the settings a bit more but find that you really have to nail your exposure because if you are just a tad too bright it makes it a pain in the ass to fix in the Color correct. Ever since I purchased this camera I have not liked what it does to skin tones on the highlight side. I tend to try to shoot as flat as possible so that I have more latitude in post but I still have not found that happy medium.
