Skin Tone Detail

I've gathered fairly good information about the pros and cons of pretty much every other set-up menu item except Skin Tone Detail. Anybody have any experiences using this? I've noticed a lot of people on these boards have it turned off. I'm shooting for a dramatic film look with proposed film or HD out, with all caucasian talent (sounds like I'm a bigot or something). Lots of intimate close-ups. The fact that it's an on/off switch rather than an incremental adjustment worries me. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Re: Skin Tone Detail

Thats an interesting question. ive always wanted to know what the skin tone detail does. Perhaps Jarred will post on this.

Re: Skin Tone Detail

Skin Tone Detail provides a mild blur across any swath of color that the camera thinks is "skin tone". The result is to smooth out wrinkles or imperfections on skin and make portraiture more pleasing and flattering to the subject.

But in practice, it doesn't seem to do a whole lot...
