Size?

Is there a pic (or bettter pic'S) anywhere that shows a person holding an HVX?

Try as I might I can't seem to find anything... I want to get an idea of its physical size. I saw the pic of it besides a DVX but that didn't really 'do it for me' so to speak!

Indy.....

Hehe, thanks. I go to a film school so I'm kinda a black sheep waving my "24p" around. Not to mention I'm a PC user... :-P

Lets see, film school student + Ventura = "Brooks Institute of Photography"?

Don't make any apologies about being a PC user, most of the real world runs on PCs. I managed to personally oust a lot of Apples over the years myself.

Geeze, everytime I try to write a reply, John manages to jump in and post before I can even hit the enter key.

So tell me the truth John, you aren't really a mortal person but rather just some bank of networked super computers that has started a background task based upon some inquiry about filmmaking, right?

That's the only explanation that I can come up with!

He's like Barclay in Star Trek TNG, when he networks his brain into the ship's computer through the Holodeck, and runs the entire ship  (Yes Yes I watch Star Trek) http://www.startrek.com/startrek/view/series/TNG/episode/68492.html

Haakon those are some great pics from today! I wonder if those guys knew they were going to be famous  I still can't get over how good that camera felt and looked...

If this helps any... the HVX is almost exactly the same size, shape, and weight as the Sony Z1. Find an FX1 or Z1 and you'll know pretty much exactly what the HVX is like. The HVX might be marginally wider, but that's about it -- they're otherwise exactly the same size & weight.

One thing I like about the HVX is that the LCD is where it should be, closer to the operator. I get cross-eyed when I have to stare at the Z1 LCD from the back of a tripod or DVRigPro. :undecided

Haakon,
I don't remember signing a model release for that last pic. As a fellow Brooks Alum I know you were taught better than that. Wow 3 Brookies in da house. Impressive, but then again we are the most creative, technically savy and lets not forget endowed (I don't mean $) proffesionals in imaging. Class of 98 here, as well as my DP standing behind me in the photo.

Thank god it's the same weight, that's what I was most concerned about.

The weight is fine for two-handed operation, but for one it would get a little wrist-tiring after not too long. I usually use the DVX two-handed: right hand in the wrist strap, left under the camera, thumb riding the iris wheel, index finger controlling the focus and zoom rings. I found you can use exactly the same workflow with the HVX, even though it's bigger it still works (and all the manual controls are bigger -- the iris wheel is a big fat beefy thing, the focus ring is huge (it's like 3/4" wide) and the zoom ring is wider too).

I was drooling when I got a feel for the manual controls, same soft motion, but bigger and easier to get at.
